Why We're Watching
One of our favorite kinds of movies are those that make us say, “Wow, I wish that happened to me.” Nowhere could this be truer than in Yesterday, a musical comedy in which Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) goes from a musician struggling to fill a dozen seats at his gigs, to the only man on Earth who remembers the existence of The Beatles and their music. Naturally, you can guess what Jack does next (what we all would do). As he proceeds to record and release all The Beatles’ songs, he quickly gains fame, fortune, and the title of the world’s greatest songwriter, but at the cost of any sense of his life’s stability. Still, our imaginations are running wild with the premise, as we watch Jack deal with his “really, really, really complicated situation.” Plus, we have a feeling that Yesterday will have a pretty good soundtrack.
